String festival & Wind festival 5th and 6th March 2024
Summerfield musicians did us proud this week. They were invited to perform with over twenty other schools at Milton Keynes String and Wind Festival 2024 at the magnificent Christ of the Cornerstone Church in Central Milton Keynes. Our young musicians listened to other performances from many different schools. It was wonderful to hear flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, tubas, violins, cellos and guitars. Amazing sounds. Summerfield performed pieces on violin, guitar, flute and recorder in front of a huge audience. We were delighted to be noticed by the adjudicators and presented with two awards for excellence. Grateful thanks to Mr Pentz and Ms Baker, the music teachers who have supported the children. It was a delightful morning, full of creativity and artistic endeavour. We look forward to hearing them perform again in our school assemblies. Well done all.

We have had such a wonderful time composing music to accompany our Escape stories. We orchestrated our ideas, playing glockenspiels, flutes, violins and percussion. We experimented with timbre, pentatonic scale and harmony. We recorded our ideas on a Score. The children's technical skills are improving every week.
Pupil voice said about music in class:
"I love music, I feel calm"
"This is a dream come true, I've always wanted to learn music"
